From Fitchburg police:
On July 15, 2018 at approximately 9:26 p.m., officers from the Fitchburg Police Department were dispatched to the 5100 Block of Anton Dr for a report of a disturbance and the sounds of gunfire. When officers arrived on scene they located evidence of a disturbance and a number of shell casings.
During the investigation a male arrived at an area hospital with a gun shot wound and stated he'd been shot in Fitchburg.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information at this time. At this time there is not believed to be any danger to the public. The Dane County Sheriff's Office, Town of Madison Police Department, Madison Police Department and the Verona Police Department all assisted in the investigation.
