MADISON (WKOW) -- The city of Madison Streets Division plow trucks will be out on the main thoroughfares overnight as soon as snow begins to stick on the roads.
Salt routes, or the main thoroughfares and roads used by Madison Metro, will be plowed and salted as needed for the duration of the storm.
The snowfall is expected to produce a very wet, dense snow that will be heavy to shovel. It should start sometime early Thursday and then increase intensity during the afternoon.
The storm has the potential of producing a freezing rain and snow mix, which will make all roads slick.
Residential streets with a thin layer of post-plowing snow will be slippery, as will main streets while the storm is active. The plows will be out working on the main thoroughfares during the snowstorm, but what they plow off will just be replaced on the roads by freshly fallen snow.
Travel through the city will become more difficult as the storm intensifies in the afternoon.
