MADISON (WKOW) -- Seeking to keep the exhibition in the Dairy State's capital city, Dane County offered the World Dairy Expo a new contract Wednesday, looking to help the exhibition recoup losses from COVID-19.
According to a news release from Dane County spokesperson Ariana Vruwink, the new contract would keep the event at Madison's Alliant Energy Center through 2030. The county will host the event at no cost in 2021 and 2022.
With vaccine rates rising by the day, the county expects this fall's exposition to proceed safely.
"World Dairy Expo is a long-standing partner of Dane County and this contract extension reflects our commitment to our farmers, our agricultural heritage, and this event," Dane County Executive Joe Parisi said. "Our partnership has withstood decades and a global pandemic won't change Wisconsin's love for this event and what it means for our economy."
The contract is now waiting for approval from the World Dairy Expo Board.
