Bail for son accused in mother’s Iowa County homicide $100,000

DODGEVILLE (WKOW) - Bail was set at $100,000 Wednesday for Sean Pickett, who's accused of killing his mother and the family dog at their Avoca home.

During an Iowa County Court hearing, Pickett, 21, appeared via video link from the county jail. He only spoke to provide the judge with his address and his status of being unemployed.

Authorities say Pickett was arrested Monday after he called 911 to alert emergency responders to the death of his mother Susan Pickett, 54, on William Street in Avoca.

Iowa County District Attorney Matthew Allen says Pickett confessed to stabbing his mother and using a metal pole to hit her.

Allen says Pickett also told officers he used the knife and metal bar to kill his dog.

Authorities have yet to comment on what triggered Pickett to allegedly carry out this violence against his mother and pet.

Online court records indicate Pickett has no previous, felony convictions in Wisconsin.

No criminal charges have been filed yet again Pickett. The Wisconsin Department of Justice is leading this homicide investigation.

Pickett has another court hearing scheduled for later this month.
