UPDATE (WKOW) -- A woman has died from her injuries after a shooting early Sunday morning on the east side of Madison, with a person of interest in custody for the shooting.
According to an incident report from MPD public information officer Jesus Rivera, authorities believe the victim and shooter knew each other, and that the shooting was not a random act of violence.
Authorities in another state took the person of interest into custody, and the investigation is open and ongoing. Police have not released the names of anyone involved in the shooting.
MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police are investigating a shooting that sent a woman to the hospital in serious condition.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning in the 1700 block of Onsgard Road, near the East Towne Mall.
When they got there, officers found a 31-year-old woman with a gunshot wound. First responders did perform life-saving measures. She was later taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.
