UPDATE (WKOW) -- Crews were working Tuesday night to restore power in Spring Green after officials say the entire village went dark when severe storms rolled through Tuesday afternoon.
Roads throughout Spring Green were lined with branches and entire chunks of trees that snapped off in the high winds. One tree split in half, pulling down power lines and breaking a power pole -- which was a main reason village power went out. That tree missed the nearby house, and no one was hurt.
The story was similar throughout town.
"The smaller trees were bent at 90 degree angles and the giant trees had debris falling off," said Marcus Truschinski, who was driving home through the storms. "It was like some 1990s disaster film."
Truschinski's son Gus was at home at the time when a huge branch snapped off of a tree in front of their home.
"I was actually making a TikTok when the power went out and I heard a snap," Gus said. "So I looked out the window and I saw this whole tree down. So I yelled for my mom."
A few blocks away, Jane Schimmel and John Meyerhofer were cleaning debris from their yard.
"The wind was going, and he was out in the shed," Schimmel said.
"You had no time," Meyerhofer said. "I've never seen nothing like this before."
As of 10 p.m., around 240 people in the Spring Green area were still without power -- held up manly by the large tree that pulled down lines and snapped the power pole. Alliant Energy crews on scene said that could take a while to restore, since a brand new pole would be required.
