The following incident occurred on Friday, August 27, 2021:
Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 10:22 p.m., Green County Deputies, New Glarus Police, Blanchardville Police, Blanchardville EMS, and the Blanchardville Fire Department, responded to the N9300 block of STH 78 in the Town of York for a single vehicle rollover crash. It was reported that a subject was ejected from the vehicle and was possibly deceased. Investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling southbound on STH 78 when the vehicle exited the roadway and entered the west gravel shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle then came back onto the roadway and then entered the east ditch. The vehicle then went down an embankment and overturned multiple times. The vehicle then struck a fence and then came to a rest. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was ejected during the crash. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office.
The vehicle sustained severe damage and the airbags did not deploy. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
The Green County Highway Department assisted at the scene with traffic control and establishing a detour. The roadway was shut down for approximately 4 hours.
The name of the driver is not being released at the time. The crash remains under investigation.
