POTOSI (WKOW) -- A man is dead and a woman was air-lifted to UW Hospital following a shooting in Potosi early Friday morning.
According to a news release from the Grant County Sheriff Nathan Dreckman, the county communications center received a 911 call at 3:30 a.m. Friday. Dreckman said the dispatcher could hear the sounds of an argument because of the open line of the call.
When officers reached North Main Street in Potosi, they checked several homes, eventually narrowing their search to one residence. While outside listening for a disturbance they heard a gunshot followed by a woman's scream, followed by a second gunshot.
Deputies went inside, finding a deceased man with a gunshot wound and a woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital by Potosi EMS before she was taken to UW Hospital via airlift.
"The Grant County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating this incident, but it has been determined there is no threat to the public due to this incident," Dreckman said in the release.
