Record warmth with strong winds approaching

MADISON (WKOW) - A very strange, warm, windy, and potentially stormy December day ahead.

A strong storm system is developing in the Central U.S. Ahead of it, we have increasing winds out of the south, gusting to 30-45 mph during the day and 50-60 mph during the high wind warning this evening and tonight.

Temperatures will soar to the mid 60s. Our record for today is 52° set in 2011, but the all time warmest December day on record was 65° set in 2012, so multiple records are in jeopardy.

A line of storms moves in along the main cold front, and they may be strong to severe with a gusty wind and tornado threat. The highest risk for severe weather is in Iowa and Minnesota, but we should stay weather aware as well as the storms develop.
