Thousands Still In The Dark After Powerful Wind Storm

(Undated) -- The lights are still not on for thousands of people in the central U.S. Michigan and Wisconsin are dealing with the most outages. Thousands are also still in the dark in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, and Illinois. The Storm Prediction Center says yesterday saw the most wind gusts of 75-miles-per-hour since 2004. Forecasters put that number at 55.

In Wisconsin, the National Weather Service in Green Bay recorded wind gusts of 76 mph in Rhinelander . At Dane County Regional Airport, the National Weather Service out of Sullivan recorded a peak wind gust at 1 a.m. of 56 mph.

Trees and powerlines were toppled throughout Dane County. In the Town of Middleton, a tree fell on a home on Timber Lane. Nobody was hurt, but the family was displaced. The Dane County Sheriff's Department also reports a tree fell on a trailer at Ray's Riverside Resort in Roxbury.
