MADISON (WKOW) — The Madison Police Department is asking for your help to identify this man.
In a Facebook post, MPD says the man "viciously attacked" a 78-year-old at the Culver's on the West Beltline Highway. MPD says the attack "occurred without provocation." Authorities say the incident took place Aug. 29.
Police describe the man as in his mid-50's, about 5'7" and a heavier build.
Several people who work in the mall that includes Culver's tell 27 News they recognize the man in police photos as someone who regularly panhandles at the entrance to the mall and on Culver's property. They say the panhandler has not been seen at the mall since the restaurant attack took place.
Police officials offer no comment on whether the man in the suspect photos could be the mall's previously, frequent panhandler.
