Child killed after being struck by a vehicle near Pardeeville

Release from Columbia County Sheriff's Dept:

On Wednesday, 09/21/22, at approximately 5:11 p.m., the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call advising that a four-year-old child had been struck by a passenger vehicle on Haynes Road in the Township of Marcellon. The child had been riding on a farm wagon, had jumped down from the wagon, and onto the roadway. The child was then struck by a passing motor vehicle.

A 4 year old was killed last night in a crash near Pardeeville. The Columbia County Sheriff's Department says the child had been riding on a farm wagon on Haynes Road, when they jumped off the wagon and onto the road, where they were hit by a passing vehicle. That driver, a 47 year old Pardeville woman, is cooperating with the investigation.

Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene of the crash. First responders began performing lifesaving measures. After exhaustive measures were taken, attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful.

The operator of the motor vehicle was identified as a 47-year-old woman from Pardeeville, WI. She was cooperative with investigators at the scene of the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

The name of the juvenile will not be released. This is a very tragic and traumatic accident and an extremely emotional time for family, friends, and the first responders who tried to save the child’s life. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends that are mourning.
