The hottest temperatures of the year, and possibly over the last decade, is going to be overhead for the next day or so. That's why an excessive heat warning will go into effect starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday and last through Thursday night.
High temperatures, both days, will easily flirt with the low 100s. Southern Wisconsin hasn't recorded a 100°F day since 2012, which is why this air is the hottest in over a decade. It will feel much hotter outside, with heat index values possibly climbing to around 115°F.
Overnight into Thursday we'll remain hot as well, with lows only cooling into the upper 70s to low 80s.
Another hot day is expected for Thursday, with similar forecast highs as well as heat index values. By the weekend, we are in the 70s.
To beat the heat, drink plenty of water, stay cool and take breaks if you are outside. Make sure that your pets and the elderly folks in your life are staying cool and hydrated as well.
