Man arrested after stabbing at Sun Prairie Walmart, police chase

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WKOW) -- A Sun Prairie man was arrested after police said he stabbed someone at a Walmart and led police on a high-speed chase late Monday night.

Lt. Ryan Cox with the Sun Prairie Police Department said officers were called to the Walmart Supercenter on McCoy Road at about 10:17 p.m. for a report of a stabbing inside the store.

Emergency crews located the 36-year-old man who was hurt and transported him to the hospital. He was listed in critical, but stable condition.

Meanwhile, officers were actively trying to find the suspect, Miguel Angel Barajas-Ceballos. They located the 22-year-old's car and tried to pull him over, but he sped away.

Police from multiple agencies chased after Barajas-Ceballos and deployed spike strips. His car hit the spikes and crashed at East Washington Avenue and Brearly Street in Madison, hitting another vehicle that wasn't involved.

The press release said Barajas-Ceballos was arrested by 10:26 p.m., less than 10 minutes after officers arrived at the initial call. He was taken to the Dane County Jail.

Lt. Cox said investigators don't believe the two men knew each other.
