MADISON (WKOW) -- A registered sex offender is accused of sexually assaulting, strangling and threatening to kill a woman after she rejected his advances, according to Dane County court records.
Alfred Riley, 59, is charged with disorderly conduct, misdemeanor battery, strangulation and suffocation, and second-degree sexual assault, according to a criminal complaint.
"I'm gonna make you mine": Victim claims Riley sexually assaulted her after rejection
The complaint states the victim said she was at her home on Baird Street in Madison with Riley on Nov. 6 before he assaulted her.
She told an officer she had known Riley for several months and that they had a consensual sexual relationship.
However, she said while they were being intimate that afternoon, he tried to force her into a sexual act she did not want to do, and she repeatedly objected. The woman said Riley forced himself on her, according to the complaint.
The victim claims Riley said "I'm gonna make you mine, [expletive]" then punched her in the side of her head, according to the complaint. The complaint states an officer later noted a bruise on the woman's face.
After this, the victim claims Riley threatened to kill her and smothered her with a pillow.
The complaint states the woman then managed to escape.
Riley claims woman wrongfully accused him of rape
In an interview after Riley was arrested, he described a different series of events.
He said the victim and he had known each other for around five months, and they had a consensual sexual relationship.
He said the day the woman reported the sexual assault, they had met up to have sex.
The complaint states Riley told the woman that day "this would be the last time" he'd meet her for sex. After he said that, Riley claims the woman became angry and kicked him off her.
Riley said he became "scared" when the woman began yelling she had been "raped" and that he was "trying to kill" her, according to the complaint.
Riley's history of sexual crimes
Riley is a registered sex offender, a classification he's had for 36 years.
Dane County Court records show Riley sexually assaulted four women between 1986 and 1987. Records also state Riley sexually assaulted a woman in 1992 while on parole.
Riley spent 10 years in a mental health facility after he was determined to be a "sexually violent person."
His bail was set at $25,000.
If convicted on all charges, Riley may be sentenced to over 46 years in prison.
