MADISON (WKOW) - The Dane County Detoxification Center will be shut down over the weekend due to a COVID-19 outbreak, Tellurian Behavioral Health announced.
This center can be crucial for people who need help with substance or alcohol use. It's a safe place for them to go through withdrawal and get ready for further treatment.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office often sends people struggling with substance abuse to the Detoxification Center, located at 2914 Industrial Dr. in Madison, instead of putting them in jail or the hospital. With the center closed, they'll have to use other options for now.
The closure comes as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among staff and patients. For additional resources, you can call the national substance abuse helpline 800-662-4357.
