A very active 48 hours is ahead throughout Wisconsin. Light rain showers will pick up by midmorning and then will mix with and transition to snow through the early afternoon on Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the middle 30s and the ground will be mild, so there will initially be quite a bit of melting. However, steady snow will continue to fall and will start to accumulate this evening.
Snow showers will stay heavy overnight and through much of Wednesday. Accumulations of 5-7" are likely in Dane County with higher amounts to the northeast and lesser amounts to the far southwest.
