MADISON (WKOW) -- As the snow continued to fall throughout the day and into the night, the city of Madison began plowing and salting all roads starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Citywide, it's expected to take 12 to 14 hours, but all residential streets should be plowed by this evening, according to Charlie Romines, the Madison Streets Division superintendent.
While traveling on Wednesday, Romines asks that you drive carefully. As you drive, you might also encounter intersections that are temporarily blocked with snow. He asks for your patience as they circle the block to efficiently remove the snow.
While snow is expected to continue through the day, due to the warm air and temperature of the sidewalks, no additional accumulation on residential streets is expected once the snow is pushed from the road and to the curb.
The snow is wet and thick, and when pushed to the side it may block sidewalks and driveways, making it difficult to shovel. Officials encourage you to take your time and do not overexert yourself.
Trash and recycling will continue as scheduled, however, do not leave parked cars on the side of the road, as this can cause delays and obstruct the plowing vehicles. If you encounter a plowing vehicle, give them space to do their work safely.
