BELOIT, Wis. (WKOW) — Beloit police officers are investigating a homicide after a shooting in Beloit early Friday morning.
Police say when they arrived at the scene near 1400 Nelson Avenue around 1:30 a.m., officers found the victim suffering from fatal injury. Despite immediate medical attention, the victim died on scene.
"This tragic loss of life deeply saddens us, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the victim's loved ones," Chief of Police Andre Sayles said in a news release. "Our department is committed to utilizing all available resources to apprehend those responsible and hold them accountable for their actions."
As of 6 a.m., no suspects have been arrested. Police have not yet identified the victim and are still investigating a motive.
Beloit Police Department's Special Operations Division is actively investigating this incident, including by interviewing witnesses to determine what happened surrounding the death of the individual.
