COLUMBIA COUNTY, Wis. (WKOW) -- The Columbia County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle crash that killed five people Sunday morning.
The crash happened around 11:25 a.m. on Highway 60 near Reynolds Road in the Town of West Point.
Deputies say it was a head-on crash between a pickup truck and a passenger car. First responders began life saving measures on the occupants, but four of them died at the scene. A fifth person was taken to the hospital but later died.
Officials say the pickup truck was traveling westbound on Highway 60 and the passenger car was eastbound on Highway 60.
The passenger car then crossed the center line and hit the pickup truck. The investigation is ongoing.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office has released the ages of the victims and where they lived:
-The driver of the pickup truck, a 70 year old male, from Prairie Du Sac, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
-The driver of the passenger car, a 17 year old female, from Merrimac, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
-An occupant of the passenger car, a 42 year old male, from Merrimac, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
-An occupant of the passenger car, a 62 year old female, from Blue Mounds, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
-An occupant of the passenger car, a 26 year old male, from Prairie Du Sac, was pronounced deceased at UW-Madison.
