Driver arrested for possession of gun, drugs after crash near East Wash Ave

MADISON (WKOW) -- A driver who fled from Madison police and later crashed into another car was arrested early Monday morning.

Spokesperson Anthony Vogel said while on patrol, an officer saw a vehicle suspected of being driven by a man wanted by Middleton police.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle shortly after 3 a.m., but after brief contact the vehicle drove off, Vogel said. The driver then crashed into an occupied vehicle in the area of East Washington Avenue and North Fair Oaks.

Officers responded to the crash and located the vehicle. Officers conducted a high risk stop and arrested both the driver and passenger.

Vogel said police located a stolen firearm and suspected cocaine.

Charges were referred for the driver, Raequon Allen, for Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Going Armed with a Firearm while Intoxicated, Fleeing and Possession of Cocaine.

MPD referred the following charges for the passenger, Leslie Haynes: Party to a Crime, Possession of Cocaine, Resisting, and Bail Jumping.

No injuries were reported.
