Teen hurt in Sun Prairie shooting

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WKOW) -- A teen is hurt after a shooting in Sun Prairie Wednesday night, according to the Sun Prairie Police Department.

Lt. Ray Thomson said officers were called for a report of gunshots around 9:05 p.m. in the 600 Block of Elizabeth Lane. They were told that a teenager had been shot in the hand.

Thomson said the teen was taken to the hospital. No one else was hurt.

Lt. Thomson told 27 News a suspect is not in custody, but said he didn't think there was reason for the community to worry.

"There is no known threat to the public at this time, and we believe this was a targeted incident," he said.

The Sun Prairie Police Department is investigating the shooting and asks anyone with information to call the Sun Prairie Police Department Dispatch Center at (608)-837-7336.
