REEDSBURG, Wis. (WKOW) — A Reedsburg teenager was taken into custody Wednesday regarding terrorist threats, according to the Reedsburg Police Department.
Police received information early Wednesday morning through the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) alerting law enforcement to a social media post involving a threat to school safety.
Patrol officers, school resource officers and detectives investigated the tip and took a 17-year-old into custody prior to the start of school, according to police.
The School District of Reedsburg was notified by police, and the district sent notifications to parents.
The 17-year-old was transported to Sauk County Jail.
Police and school district officials are encouraging parents to talk to their children about the responsible use of social media.
