MADISON (WKOW) -- A body matching the description of a missing 24-year-old woman was recovered Thursday evening, according to Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes.
MPD had asked for the public's help in locating Brooke Strattan, who was last seen three days ago.
Barnes said the body was recovered from a pond in the area of Monroe Street and Lewis Ct.
Police were told by a community member they thought they saw someone walking in that area who matched Strattan's description.
The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the body.
According to a news release, Brooke Strattan was last seen around 7 a.m. Monday in the area of Odana Road and Whitney Way on the city's west side. She was with a man.
That man is now being questioned by police, Barnes said. He is in custody on unrelated charges.
Brooke was reported missing on Tuesday. Officers visited several addresses where she had connections.
MPD had detectives and officers searching for Brooke near Odana Hills Park on Thursday afternoon.
Chief Barnes is now turning to the public to see if anyone in the Dudgeon-Monroe area has surveillance footage from Monday ranging from 7-8:30am to determine how the woman arrived near the pond.
"If you live in this area. If you have a Ring camera, or you have a camera in your business. And you think you may have a vantage point. Please let us know. Give us a call so we can come by and come take a look at that," said Barnes.
According to spokesperson Stephanie Fryer, there has been a spike in missing persons in Madison in 2024. So far this year, there have been 154 missing people reported. That's up 22% from the same time last year.
