Officials identify man killed after crashing into Monona lagoon

MONONA, Wis. (WKOW) — Officials have released the name of the man who was killed after crashing a car into a lagoon

The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office said Christopher K. Mosby, 47, of Fitchburg, drowned after the car ended up in a channel of water near West Broadway and Pirate Island Road.

The crash was reported on Monday at 1:10 a.m. Mosby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators aren't sure why the vehicle went into the water, but Flock cameras confirmed the car was traveling on West Broadway before the crash.

Monona police say there are currently no signs of other vehicles or people being involved in the incident. There is also no suspicious activity or foul play suspected at this time.

This death remains under investigation by the Monona Police Department and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
