Man wanted in DeForest campground shooting booked into jail

DEFOREST, Wis. (WKOW) — A man who was wanted after a shooting at a campground in DeForest on Oct. 20 was booked into the Dane County Jail overnight.

Mycah K. Riggins, 33, was arrested late Wednesday night and booked early Thursday morning. He's already been charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, possession of a firearm by a felon, knowingly fleeing an officer and resisting or obstructing.

Riggins was wanted for a shooting that hurt another man at a campground earlier this month.

Officers were called to Madison Campground on County Highway V in DeForest at about 10 p.m. on Oct. 20.

Investigators have discovered two men were arguing about something, and one of them pulled out a pistol and shot the other man multiple times on his lower body.

The man who was shot was taken to the hospital and was expected to recover.

Riggins is the man accused of firing the gun. He had left by the time police got to the campground.
