MADISON (WKOW) -- Employees at the Hy-Vee store on East Washington Avenue in Madison were confronted Wednesday morning with a visitor you don't expect to see in a grocery store: a 10-point buck.
Madison Police Department spokesperson Stephanie Fryer says police were called to the store around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday. Fryer says the deer entered the store through open pharmacy doors.
She says the buck ran through the store until staff corralled him in the cooler area. Officers and animal control employees were able to barricade parts of the storage area in the back of the store and guide the buck out one of the doors.
"The suspect is free and back out in the wild!" Fryer said in an incident report.
