MADISON (WKOW) -- It has been two months since Madison police discovered the body of missing 24-year-old Brooke Strattan in a pond near Odana Hills Park, and there are still no details as to how exactly she died.
"We know it's hard when answers aren't immediately available, but that's kind of where we're at with this case," said Madison Police Department Public Information Officer Stephanie Fryer.
Strattan's family initially reported her as missing in early October. After someone saw a photo of Strattan on the news, they told police they may have seen her with another person near Odana Hills Park.
The person who was last known to be with Strattan was taken into custody.
"The person that was last known to be with Brooke was taken into custody on a probation hold, and that person still remains in the Dane County Jail at this time," Fryer said.
Fryer says police have not made any charges or arrests in this case, therefore, the department cannot release any names at this time.
"Right now, we're waiting on that evidence analysis. We are combing through everything that we've already collected," Fryer said.
In October, Chief Shon Barnes publicly stated this was a domestic violence homicide investigation. This label has since been pulled back, and Fryer says as of right now, detectives are looking at this as a death investigation.
Fryer tells 27 News, investigators are being diligent, checking the status of the evidence that has been collected daily.
She says the goal for the department is to figure out what happened to Strattan to bring closure to everyone involved.
"Brooke's life mattered, and we want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to figure out what happened," Fryer said.
