Suspect in New Lisbon deaths was previously with two missing juveniles

NEW LISBON, Wis. (WKOW) — Police in New Lisbon believe a person of interest in the death of three people was previously with two missing juveniles.

On Sunday at 10:09 p.m., the Juneau County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department to assist in locating a missing juvenile from their county, according to a press release.

The missing juvenile was picked up and last seen with Virgil Thew, 47. Thew is a person of interest in the death of three people.

Officials said Thew is known to live in New Lisbon. Efforts were made on Sunday to begin the initial investigation into the missing juvenile's whereabouts.

Then on Monday at 7:40 a.m., the New Lisbon Police Department began to investigate the whereabouts of the missing juvenile. Throughout the course of the day, police were made aware of a second missing juvenile from New Lisbon.

At 4:29 p.m., two juveniles and one adult were found dead inside a home on the 300 block of West Bridge Street in New Lisbon.

The Wisconsin State Crime Lab, Juneau County detectives and Monroe County Sheriff's Department investigators processed the scene.

Investigators continue to search for Thew. He is a white man, standing about 5 feet 10 inches and weighing about 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark colored down coat, blue jeans and a hat.

Thew is wanted through Wisconsin Probation and Parole. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Law enforcement asks that if seen, do not confront or approach and call 911.

The investigation is ongoing.
