New Lisbon fugitive charged with 3 counts of first-degree murder

NEW LISBON, Wis. (WKOW) — A man is now wanted by Juneau County authorities on three counts of first-degree intentional homicide for the deaths of a woman and two children in New Lisbon.

Virgil Thew, 47, is wanted through Wisconsin Probation and Parole.

Three people, a woman and two children, were found dead on Monday at a home on West Bridge Street in New Lisbon.

The woman has been identified as Elizabeth Kolba, 33. The two children, both girls, were ages 12 and 13. Their names are being withheld.

Thew has been formally charged with three counts of first-degree intentional homicide, court records show.

According to the criminal complaint, the victims were found locked in a bedroom having suffered gunshot wounds to the head.

Kolba was Thew's live-in girlfriend, according to the complaint. The young girls had both been in Thew's care.

Thew is described as a white man, standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair with a 1 inch scar on his forehead.

On Thursday, Jan. 2, Thew was seen on a trail camera in the Lisbon Township, the complaint stated.

Authorities said Thew should be considered armed and dangerous and law enforcement asks if seen, do not approach him and contact 911.
