Packers to release LB Nick Perry

ESPN's Rob Demovsky reported on Tuesday that the Packers would release linebacker/edge rusher Nick Perry. Green Bay will reportedly sign two edge rushers in free agency.

Perry, a first-round draft pick by the Packers in 2012, never played in all 16 games in the regular season during his seven seasons in Green Bay. After his breakout 2016 campaign, the Packers signed him to a five-year, $59 million contract. However, Perry finished the past two seasons on injured reserve, and played in just 21 games with 8.5 sacks in the past two campaigns.

Green Bay will reportedly sign former Baltimore edge rusher Za'Darius Smith and Washington edge rusher Preston Smith when free agency opens on Wednesday.

Perry finishes his seven seasons in Green Bay with 32 sacks in the regular season and seven sacks in eight career playoff games.
