Position battles at LB, WR not much clearer after two weeks

Now halfway through the preseason, the position battles at spots such as inside linebacker and wide receiver are still mostly unsettled as the Packers gear up for a trip to Canada to take on the Raiders this Thursday night.

Zachary Jacobson of Cheesehead TV takes stock of where things are at with the wide receiver and inside linebacker position battles after two weeks of preseason action:

  • At Linebacker: No shortage of talent, but the Packers may scan the waiver wire these next couple of weeks to search for some veteran help to fill the void. For now, they have the resources to get by. If Bolton or Summers can continue their ascending levels of play, maybe the position is already cemented.
  • At Wide Receiver: Jake Kumerow? Allen Lazard? Darrius Shepherd? What do you do with some of these guys who do nothing but make plays in camp and continue to stand out during exhibition games? Realistically, the Packers are going to keep anywhere between six-to-seven receivers. Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown aren't going anywhere.
