Packers Fall 23-7 In Season Opener To NFC North Rival Vikings

The Green Bay Packers opened the 2022 regular season with a thud against the Minnesota Vikings, dropping the game 23-7 on Sunday afternoon.

The Vikings took the ball right down the field on the opening drive of the game to take a quick 7-0 lead. The Packers looked like they were about to answer back on the first play as Christian Watson was able to beat his man and was in the clear for a 75 yard touchdown, but dropped the ball and the pass fell incomplete. It was a sign of things to come in this game for Green Bay.

Rodgers and his young wide receivers struggled to get connected all game long and the offense sputtered. Meanwhile, Justin Jefferson was running all over the Packers defense, being left wide open on a number of occasions while racking up 184 receiving yards on nine catches for two touchdowns.

Kirk Cousins completed 23 of 32 passes for 277 yards and 2 TDs. Aaron Rodgers was 22 of 34 for 195 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Jordan Love finished the final series, completing four of five passes for 65 yards in garbage time after the game was already out of hand.

AJ Dillon had 10 carries for 45 yards while Aaron Jones carried the ball five times for 49 yards.

The Packers will look to bounce back in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field.
