The city of Madison is settling a lawsuit filed by the family of Tony Robinson for $3.3 million dollars, according to a report in Isthmus. Robinson, who is black, was shot and killed by a white Madison officer in March of 2015 following an altercation at an apartment on Williamson Street. It sparked months of protests. The lawsuit argued there was never a need for the officer to enter the apartment . The officer was responding to calls that Robinson had attacked two people and was running in traffic. Tests showed the 19 year old had a combination of Xanax, mushrooms and marijuana in his system. The officer was cleared of any wrongdoing.
