WKOW) -- The Delton Fire Department says the fire at the Country Squire Inn caused at least $250,000 in damage.
Fire chief Darren Jorgenson says the fire broke out around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. He says crews had the fire under control around 10:15 a.m., but not before three units of the 13-unit motel were heavily damaged by the fire. Jorgenson says all of the units sustained heat, smoke and water damage.
Crews remained on scene for six hours in total, mopping up hot spots and investigating how the fire started. Jorgenson says the cause has not yet been determined.
No one was hurt.
Chief Jorgenson says two of the motel units were occupied and those tenants are receiving assistance as needed for alternate housing arrangements. The electric service to a nearby 10-unit motel was also affected as a result of the fire. All of those units were occupied at the time and those tenants are receiving assistance for housing as needed.
