Madison man for armed burglary

A 35-year-old Madison man is in custody after he allegedly robbed a Stoughton home and ran from local officers afterward. 

Stoughton Police received a call Friday afternoon for a suspect seen leaving a driveway on Roy Avenue at Johnson Street.  He'd reportedly fired a gun earlier. 

Officers say they used a TASER on William A. Fleming after he'd ran from them and resisted arrest. He was taken into custody soon afterward. 

A news release Friday says they found a loaded Glock handgun on the suspect, in addition to items taken in a burglary on Roy Avenue. No one was injured during the incident.  

Officials say Fleming is a convicted felon; he's being held ill be held in the Dane County Jail on a probation hold.  Among the charges he could face for this incident include armed burglary, being a felon in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest and endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon and unlawful firearm discharge near a dwelling.  

Stoughton Police continue their investigation and ask anyone with any further information to contact them.
