Dane County Jail Staff Prevent Opioid Overdose

An inmate at the Dane County Jail was given naloxone Sunday morning to prevent an opioid overdose. During a routine medical check, staff at the jail noticed the inmate -- a 31-year-old female -- was lethargic and had lowered vital signs. The jail doctor determined the woman should be given naloxone. Her vital signs improved. She was treated at the hospital and returned to the jail and placed in a special monitoring unit.

The woman is in the jail for resisting an officer, possession of a heroin, and a child neglect. No new charges will be added as a result of this medical event.
