After an over week long intensive manhunt, Joseph Jakubowski has been captured. He gave up to law enforcement in Vernon County peacefully just before 6 a.m. Friday.
Authorities in Richland County were actually given a tip about a suspicious person around 7 Thursday night by a property owner just over the county line in Vernon County. Police say the property owner didn't know what Jakubowski looked like, so they had him look at a picture online. After seeing Jakubowski's picture, police say the landowner said, "that's him."
The 32 year old Janesville man is said to be in good condition and has been taken to Rock County. At this time, police don't detail whether Jakubowski had any weapons with him when he was taken into custody.
Early last week, Jakubowski broke into a Janesville gun shop and stole a number of high powered firearms, along with a couple of gun silencers, and mailed a 161 page manifesto to the White House.
