Police dealing with "challenging forensic scene" in Madison homicide



UPDATE (WKOW) -- Madison Police Chief Mike Koval has briefed the media about the early morning homicide.

Chief Koval showed up the scene shortly before 6:00 a.m. He says the victim was a 29-year-old African-American man who was sitting in a vehicle when he was targeted.

Police tried life-saving measures and EMS crews did as well when they got on scene, but the man died. 

Chief Koval says about a dozen shell casings were found at the scene. He called it a "challenging forensic scene."

The police chief also said this was not random gun violence. Detectives believe the victim was targeted and they don't believe there is any danger to the general public at this time.

Chief Koval says this is the 8th homicide in Madison this year.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police are on the scene of a shooting.

They were called to the 2000 block of Adderbury Lane, off Raymond Road, around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday for a victim with at least one gunshot wound.

Police at the scene tell us the suspect is at large and there is no information on how the victim is doing.
