Authorities say a Columbia County Sheriff's deputy shot someone during an altercation at a home in Pardeeville.
According to the state Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the deputy was responding to a domestic disturbance at the home Monday night and ended up firing at someone who died at the scene. That person's name is not being released at this time.
The deputy is now on paid, administrative leave as the state investigators look into what happened. DCI is also working with the Wisconsin State Patrol, the state Crime Laboratory and the Columbia County District Attorney's Office.
