The Grant County Sheriff says a deputy shot and killed an armed, wanted man early Friday morning.
At a news conference Friday night, Sheriff Nate Dreckman said the situation started around 7 a.m. Friday, when two deputies parked on Millville Hollow Road in far western Grant County tried to apprehend a man with multiple warrants for his arrest. Dreckman says the suspect took off and led deputies on a short chase.
After the chase, Dreckman says there was a confrontation between a deputy and the suspect, who was armed. Dreckman says shots were fired, causing the death of the suspect.
The deputy was not hurt.
The names of the suspect and the deputy have not been released.
An autopsy on the suspect is set for Saturday.
