RACINE, Wis. (AP) _ Racine County sheriff's officials say they've arrested a suspect in a homicide that happened more than 17 years ago.
Thirty-nine-year-old Juanita Zdroik, the mother of three, was found fatally shot along Highway K in the Town of Raymond on Feb. 7 of 2000. Sheriff Christopher Schmaling said Monday at a news conference investigators have finally arrested one of two men identified as Zdroik's killers. Schmaling investigators have spent hundreds of hours trying to solve the case.
Although leads were developed over the years, the sheriff says information received in a double homicide in Milwaukee this year led to the two suspects. One was arrested in Tampa, Florida and is awaiting extradition. A warrant has been issued for the second man, believed to be in Puerto Rico.
