On Friday October 20th, 2017 at 6:10 PM deputies responded to a two vehicle crash with injuries in the W600 block of STH 11, Town of Spring Grove. Investigation revealed that Nathan L. Leopold, 44, of Janesville, was eastbound on STH 11 when he reported that he fell asleep. Leopold’s vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound vehicle operated by David P. Leck, 70, of Juda.

A passenger in Leck's vehicle was identified as Emily E. Withee, 12, of Brodhead. Withee was wearing her seat belt and was injured in the crash. Withee was transported by EMS to Mercy Hospital. Leck was wearing his seat belt and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office. The air bags deployed in Leck’s vehicle.
