(Madison, WI) -- Madison Police say there is a significant increase in guns stolen from vehicles. Yesterday, a man reported his gun missing from his car parked near Northport Drive and Sherman Avenue. He told police he keeps the gun locked in the car because he has children in his home. But the Madison Police Department says this is a bad idea. They recently unveiled a billboard and social media campaign "Lock It Or Lose It" to avoid similar crimes. Police are asking residents to lock their doors and to securely store their guns.
