Jury convicts Hassan in Madison homicide

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Jurors determined Ali Hassan is guilty of the lesser charge -- homicide by intoxicated use of a dangerous weapon -- and not the more serious charge of 1st degree intentional homicide in the December 2016 shooting death of Fatoumatta Jallow at the group home on Madison's east side.

Hassan was found guilty of five other charges, including attempted homicide.

The jury deliberated for more than six hours before rendering a verdict.

Members of the Jallow family, who had attended each day of the trial, sat in stunned silence as the verdicts were announced. As they exited the courtroom, you could hear crying coming from the halls outside.

Jallow's father, Sankulay Jallow, told 27 News his family did not receive the justice they deserve.

Judge Josann Reynolds revoked Hassan's bail. He will be sentenced in 45 to 60 days.
