Madison city council overrides mayoral veto of online alcohol sales

MADISON (WKOW) -- Members of the Common Council voted Tuesday night to override Mayor Paul Soglin's veto of click and collect alcohol sales.

The ordinance allows people of legal drinking age to buy alcohol online and pick it up in a store's parking lot.

Fourteen votes were needed to override the veto, and that's exactly what the council got. Five alders voted against the override. One alder, Larry Palm, was excused from the vote.

The council also approved licenses for click and collect sales for two stores -- the Pick 'n Save on Junction Road and the Walmart on Nakoosa Trail.
