Third suspect arrested in string of Dane County bank robberies

The Madison Police Department's Violent Crime Unit, with assistance from the FBI, arrested a third suspect this past weekend in connection with a string of bank robberies in the Madison area.

Robert L. Minette Jr., 31, was arrested in Shakopee, Minnesota and faces charges of robbery of a financial institution. He is facing extradition back to Wisconsin.

Earlier this month, a judge set bond at $500,000 dollars for Jonathan Thompson, another one of the suspects in the bank robbery spree.

Madison police say Thompson is part of a larger group of criminals involved in nine bank robberies in the Madison area.

Online court records show Thompson's cash bond was signed on Tuesday. As conditions of his bond, Thompson cannot be at any NCUA or FDIC-insured institution.

Thompson and and a third suspect, Kiefah A. Marbra faces charges in connection with the robberies.

Police say the trio were involved in these robberies:

-- January 8th robbery at Old National Bank, 216 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison

Police say the three are not connected to the attempted robbery earlier in March at the Chase Bank on Milwaukee Street where the alleged robber was shot and killed by a security guard.
