Wisconsin Supreme Court election to be decided

MADISON, Wis. (AP) _ The election of a new Wisconsin Supreme Court justice and consideration of a constitutional amendment to do away with the state treasurer's position top the ballot in Tuesday's election.

Voters will decide between Sauk County Circuit Judge Michael Screnock and Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Rebecca Dallet in the race for a 10-year term on the Supreme Court.

Screnock is backed by conservatives while Dallet is the choice of liberals. The winner will replace retiring Justice Michael Gableman who is part of the court's 5-2 conservative majority.

A constitutional amendment to eliminate the office of state treasurer is also on the ballot. Approval of the amendment would delete the position, which has had its duties greatly reduced in recent years.

Snow and rain forecast across the state on Tuesday could affect turnout.
