US 51 back open after deadly crash

UPDATE FROM DANE CO SHERIFF'S DEPT: 

At approximately 10:05 p.m. on April 2, 2018, Dane County Deputies along with McFarland PD 

and Fire, Stoughton Fire and EMS responded to a two vehicle crash on USH 51 at CTH AB in 

the Town of Dunn.  A head on collision occurred between a 2008 Cadillac DTS driven by a 25 

year old Stoughton man and a 2003 GM Sierra K2500 pick up truck driven by a 22 year old 

Stoughton man.  Neither man was wearing his seatbelt.  The 25 year old man was pronounced 

deceased at the scene by the Medflight doctor.  The 22 year old was transported by Medflight to 

a local hospital for critical injuries.  The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction 

Team and detectives are investigating the crash.  USH 51 was shut down for from 10:10pm until 

2:35am.  

The names of the involved drivers are not being released at this time pending the outcome of the 

investigation and the notification of the deceased’s family by the Dane County Medical 

Examiner’s Office. 

UPDATE (WKOW) -- The scene of a deadly crash is now cleared, according to Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

All lanes on US 51 near County B/AB are back open.  WisDOT sent out the update shortly after 2:30 a.m.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office told us one person died in the crash.

MCFARLAND (WKOW) -- Part of US 51 is closed after a deadly crash near McFarland.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says all lanes on US 51 near County B/AB is blocked due to the crash.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office says one person is dead.  Officials say it was a two-vehicle, head-on crash. It happened at about 10 p.m. Monday.
