National home decor retailer proposed for former Sam's Club building

At Home, a national home decor retailer with more than 150 stores in the United States, plans to open in the former Sam's Club on Madison's west side.

The company is seeking final approval for design changes to the building at a meeting Wednesday before the City of Madison Urban Design Commission.

According to the application submitted to the commission, the company rebranded in 2014, upgraded its product lines for a major national expansion and formally changed its name to At Home.

Over the next two years, the company says it invested in market research, architectural and graphic design schemes and branding in order to bring a completely new concept to the retail nice of home decor products.

Sam's Club closed its Watts Road store on short notice in January as part of a nationwide downsizing.

The commission meets at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2018 in room 551 of the City County Building at 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Madison.
